No One Like Jesus

No One Like Jesus

Simon Peter answered Him, “Lord, to whom shall we go?  You have the words of eternal life and we have believed, and have come to know, that you are the Holy One of God.” (John 6.68-69)

In our pursuit of Bible knowledge, we all have come to believe that Jesus is like no other. There has been no other birth like Christ’s. “Therefore, the Lord himself will give you a sign. Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel” (Isaiah 7.14). There has been no other life like His. “Even as the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many” (Matthew 20.28). Finally, His death was like no other. “But we see him who for a little while was made lower than the angels, namely Jesus, crowned with glory and honor because of the suffering of death, so that by the grace of God he might taste death for everyone” (Hebrews 2.9).

No one equaled to Christ in knowledge. He knew creation. “For by Him all things were created, in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones of dominions or rulers or authorities–all things were created through him and for him” (Colossians 1.16). He knew God. “All things have been handed over to me by my Father, and no one knows the Son except the Father, and no one knows the Father except the Son and anyone to whom the Son chooses to reveal Him” (Matthew 11.27).

Christ lived His life unselfishly. He came to empty Himself. “Who, though he was in the form of God, did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped, but emptied himself, by taking the form of a servant, being born in the likeness of men. And being found in human form, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross” (Philippians 2.6-8).

Finally, Jesus was matchless in power. He had all power in heaven and earth. “And Jesus came and said to them, ‘All authority in heaven and one earth has been given to me’” (Matthew 28.18). He had power over diseases. “And He went throughout all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues and proclaiming the gospel of the kingdom and healing every disease and every affliction among the people” (Matthew 4.23). And, He had the power to forgive sins. “And when Jesus saw   their faith, he said to the paralytic, “Son, your sins are forgiven.” . . . And immediately Jesus, perceiving in his spirit that they thus questioned within themselves, said to them, “Why do you question these things in your hearts? Which is easier, to say to the paralytic, ‘Your sins are forgiven,’ or to say, ‘Rise, take up your bed and walk’? (Mark 2.5, 8-9).

There truly has never been a person like Jesus. Now is the time…Why delay? Won’t you obey today?
