The Call of the Voices of God

The Call of the Voices of God

Many people ask the question: “If there is a God, why has He not made Himself more clearly known?” Others wonder why God would speak through what some consider an ancient book like the Bible. Yet the Scriptures reveal that God has never been silent. In fact, He has spoken loudly and clearly to mankind in many ways for those willing to listen.

First, God speaks through His creation. The Psalmist declared, “The heavens declare the glory of God, and the sky above proclaims his handiwork” (Psalm 19:1). The beauty, order, and complexity of the universe testify to the existence of a Creator. Romans 1:20 teaches that God’s eternal power and divine nature are clearly seen through the things He has made. Every sunrise, every star-filled night, and every living thing points us toward the wisdom and power of God.

Second, God speaks through His Word. The Bible was given to produce faith in the hearts of men (Romans 10:17). Through fulfilled prophecy, eyewitness testimony, and the preservation of Scripture through the centuries, God has provided convincing evidence of His truth. Jesus Himself said, “Search the scriptures” (John 5:39). The Bereans were commended because they searched the Scriptures daily to determine whether the things they heard were true (Acts 17:11). God’s Word continues to guide, correct, and strengthen those who are willing to read and obey it.

Third, God speaks through His Son, Jesus Christ. Hebrews 1:1-2 teaches that while God once spoke through the prophets, He now speaks through His Son. Jesus perfectly revealed the character, love, and will of God. His life, death, and resurrection changed history forever. Jesus declared, “I am the way, the truth, and the life” (John 14:6). Those who listen to Christ hear the words of eternal life.

Finally, God speaks through His people. Christians are called to proclaim His praises and reflect His love before the world (1 Peter 2:9). Through unity, kindness, and faithful living, disciples of Christ show others the transforming power of the gospel.

God has spoken through creation, His Word, His Son, and His people. The question is not whether God has spoken, but whether we are willing to listen. Isaiah calls us: “Seek the LORD while he may be found; call upon him while he is near” (Isaiah 55:6). May we open our eyes, ears, and hearts to hear the clarion voices of God.
